Kielerstar kennels started in 1966 with Brittany Spaniels. Since that time, other breeds I’ve been involved with are: Border Collies, Australian Shepherds, Norwegian Elkhounds, Gordon Setters, American Staffordshire Terriers, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, German Shepherds and Pembroke and Cardigan Welsh Corgis.
In 1972, I got my first AKC registered Pembroke Welsh Corgi. And I was involved in showing and breeding these dogs until 1985. In 1988, I became involved with showing and breeding Cardigan Welsh Corgis and still dabble in this breed (although I don’t currently own any).
In 1984, I brought home my first Bernese Mountain Dog from Christine Pike of Pike Kennels. This was Pike’s Donnar V Kieler-Starr. Donnar was my foundation bitch and everything that currently has the Kielerstar kennel name comes down from this bitch.
I’ve been actively showing my dogs since 1983 and have finished champions in both Bernese Mountain Dogs and Cardigan Welsh Corgis.
I am an active member of several dog clubs, including: Palouse Hills Dog Fanciers (since 1983) (hospitality chairperson); Inland Northwest Bernese Mountain Dog Club (charter/founding member and currently Vice President); Bernese Mountain Dog Club of America.
My Bernese Mountain Dogs may be found listed in the open database www.bernergarde.org.
